the container in the original size as compared to the container with shrinkage is shown. Since the part becomes smaller due to the shrinkage, the part with shrinkage is correspondingly larger.

The whole process of the shrinkage takes place in two stages. The first step is the moulding shrinkage. The part shrinks the most immediately before and after the injection. The post-shrinkage process lasts longer but the changes are only minimal then.

Common Plastics with Data

In Tablea few common materials are listed. The shrinkage is indicated proportional to the original size.  Name °C Shrinkage in %

An exception can be silicone or rubber-like plastics. They might be compressed during injection in the event of high pressure. During demoulding this tension is released and the part may become even larger. g
